Chapter 5 Webcam as a Document Camera

One inexpensive, alternative solution to using a drawing tablet on your PC (to write out and show those complicated algebra equations) is to use a webcam as a document camera. You can either use your smartphone for this (see Section 4 regarding the setup procedure for this) or your webcam.

Find a tripod that will allow you to mount your webcam (or smartphone). If your webcam does not come with a standard tripod mount, string, duct tape, etc. will work. I am using a Logitech BRIO that has a standard tripod mount built in. Below is an image of my setup.

Below is a screenshot of the image that is on my PC from this setup (taken from OBS). The quality is pretty good!
