Preface

Given the current state of COVID-19, many schools and universities are considering or have decided to adopt an online-only teaching format. It can be challenging to adopt an online-format for a traditional lecture course. We do not know how long we will have to maintain this position. Therefore, it would be wise to choose a strategy that has longevity and sustainability.

Who this book is for

This book is written mainly for myself to outline my own plan and strategy for migrating my large General Chemistry courses to an online format.

Who else is this book for?

This book is for anyone interested in a solution to migrating a typical face-to-face lecture course to an online format.

What this book does not do

This book is not a comprehensive resource that covers every avenue of creating and maintaining an online course. Most classes are very different and will require their own unique solutions.

What this book does do

This book offers a one-stop solution to running a course online (lecture, office hours, digital assignments) that can be done by one person from one computer in one location. Software covered is either free (when possible) or offered through Mississippi State Univeristy for employees.
